Book an appointment!FAQs: COVID antigen test as an entry test for the workplace
So-called rapid coronavirus tests have the advantage that you know after just 15 minutes whether an infection is present. Some test methods need no special laboratory infrastructure.
Compared with PCR testing, antigen tests are relatively inexpensive.
Taking the sample is minimally invasive and requires a swab from the subject's mouth and throat.
The sample is stabilised in a liquid, which is then dripped onto a test cassette.
The result can be read after 15 to 20 minutes. Positive results are confirmed by a PCR test.
The rapid tests have a very good safety profile and deliver reliable results. Positive results are about as reliable as those obtained by PCR. As with all methods, negative results can also be false negatives; if in doubt, it is advisable to repeat the test and/or switch to another method to confirm the result.
